About Me

Hi, I’m Kim.

I’m a marketing and growth leader with 15+ years of experience building revenue-driving demand generation engines and go-to-market strategy for mission-driven organizations — nonprofits, healthcare institutions, and higher education. I believe every great brand needs a plot twist, and I’ve spent my career finding them.

What I Actually Do

Most of my work comes down to one question: what is marketing actually doing for the business? I’ve spent my career answering that question with structure, not just creativity — building attribution systems, leading go-to-market (GTM) strategy, standardizing demand generation and marketing operations, and turning marketing from a cost center into a growth driver.

Some of the results of that work:

  • Scaled marketing ROI several times over within two years through data-driven demand generation, while meaningfully reducing both budget and customer acquisition cost
  • Led an award-winning brand strategy and rebrand that increased visibility by 450% and built an organization’s first CRM and marketing automation infrastructure
  • Directed a $1M omnichannel campaign that generated 18 million impressions and drew 2.5x the original attendance goal
  • Grew a flagship annual conference into the most profitable in its organization’s history through cross-functional leadership and revenue-focused strategy

Where I Started

My path here wasn’t linear. I studied journalism and built my early career in communications and PR before making a deliberate pivot into marketing about a decade ago — betting that the instincts for storytelling, audience, and message discipline would translate into revenue. They did. I still approach every strategy the way I’d approach a story: find what actually matters, cut what doesn’t, and make sure it lands with the right audience.

How I Lead

I’ve managed cross-functional teams ranging from five to twenty-two people and owned budgets up to seven figures, and I’ve maintained zero turnover across multiple multi-year tenures. I believe in “outcome, not activity” — for my team, and for myself. Busy isn’t the same as working, and I’d rather do less that matters than more that doesn’t.

Plot Twist Marketing

I’m an avid reader, and I’ve always been drawn to the moment in a story where everything shifts — the twist that changes how you see everything that came before it. I’ve noticed marketing works the same way: the campaigns that stick with us, the strategies that actually move a business, almost always involve an unexpected turn.

Every week, I write about those moments — the campaigns that shouldn’t have worked but did, the pivots that came after things fell apart, and the strategy behind both. It’s part industry commentary, part case study, and part reminder that the best marketing, like the best stories, rarely goes exactly as planned.
