5 Halloween Costumes that Actually Scare Marketers

We’re hosting a Halloween party this weekend, so it’s got me thinking about costumes.

Ghosts? Fine. Vampires? Manageable.

“Same goals. Half the budget.” Now that’s terrifying.

So I put together five Halloween costumes that would actually scare marketers. No haunted house required. Just a few familiar workplace nightmares.

1. The Purchased Email List

Our vampire arrives with a stack of spreadsheets and an irresistible promise. Where did the contacts come from? What makes them qualified? Best not to ask too many questions before the campaign kickoff.

2. The QR Code That Goes Nowhere

The design looked great. Everyone approved it. Unfortunately, everyone also assumed someone else had tested the QR code.

The real horror arrives when the boxes come back from the printer.

3. The Vanishing Budget

Forget pulling a rabbit out of a hat. This ghost magician makes your resources disappear while leaving every revenue target perfectly intact.

For the full costume effect, carry an empty wallet and a spreadsheet labeled “Do More With Less.”

4. The Product Nobody Asked For

Our mummy has a puzzle piece that doesn’t fit—and a launch date that isn’t moving.

The product is ready. The audience is unclear. Somewhere, someone is suggesting that a bigger campaign will solve everything.

5. The Broken Coffee Machine

The emails are scheduled. The website is live. The team is standing by.

Then the coffee machine stops working.

Even a witch has limits. Apparently, turning water into coffee wasn’t included in the spell book.

What would you add to the list?
